How does Google AdSense pay?
For ads on your content, you get 80% after the advertiser platform fee. When the ad comes from Google Ads, that works out to about 68% of what the advertiser pays. Other AdSense products have different shares.
Google pays once a month, usually between the 21st and 26th, when your balance passes the minimum and there's no hold on your account. The minimum is set for each currency, and payment methods depend on your country.
Rules
What rules does Google AdSense set?
Where you place ads must follow the AdSense Program Policies, which also list the content that isn't allowed. AdSense doesn't ask to be your only ad partner.
Service
What does Google AdSense do for you?
You get reports in your AdSense account, and help through the AdSense Help Center and its policy pages.

Is AdSense a good first ad network?
For many new sites it's the easiest start. There's no traffic minimum, and you set it up yourself in your AdSense account. Help comes through the AdSense Help Center, so you place and tune ads on your own.
What should you check before you apply?
Make sure your content is original and follows the AdSense Program Policies, and that you can edit your site's HTML to add the code. Check that AdSense, and a payment method you can use, are available in your country. Review usually takes a few days, but can take two to four weeks.
When will you see your first payment?
Only once your balance passes the minimum. If you earn $20 a month, that's five months before your first payment. After that, Google pays once a month.
Can you use AdSense with another network?
AdSense doesn't ask to be your only ad partner. Some managed networks do, such as Newor Media's Elevate program and Playwire, so check their rules before you add one.
Where can you go once you outgrow AdSense?
Journey by Mediavine starts at 1,000 premium sessions a month. Monumetric's Propel program starts at 10,000 monthly pageviews and Raptive at 25,000. Both want a large share of readers in the US and a few other English-speaking countries. Mediavine looks at yearly ad revenue instead of traffic.
