Which Zigbee coordinator should I buy?
Start with the radio chipset, because it decides which firmware and software you can use. Zigbee2MQTT recommends Texas Instruments, Silicon Labs, and Dresden Elektronik adapters. Home Assistant's ZHA docs recommend its own adapters first, and list others it has tested.

Should I get a USB or network coordinator?
Get USB if the adapter can sit near the machine running ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT. Put it on a USB extension cable, away from the computer, and use a USB 2.0 port, as ZHA's docs recommend.
A network coordinator lets you place the radio anywhere with an Ethernet cable. Zigbee2MQTT warns that adapters on Wi-Fi may be less stable, so it recommends wired Ethernet.
Will I need to pair my devices again?
Usually not, if you keep a backup. Zigbee2MQTT says firmware updates on the same adapter don't need re-pairing, but moving to a different adapter may. ZHA can move a network between Silicon Labs, Texas Instruments, and ConBee radios from a ZHA backup. Devices then rejoin on their own, normally within an hour.
Where does this list come from?
Each card comes from the coordinator records in Blakadder's Zigbee device compatibility repository, a community list. "Works with" shows the software those reports name. We haven't tested these adapters ourselves, so check the firmware your software needs on the manufacturer page before you buy.
Which Zigbee devices will work with my coordinator?
That depends on ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT more than on the coordinator. Check exact models in Zigbee devices.
